Eingeladene eritreische Exilschriftsteller aus europäischen Ländern wie Awet FISSEHAYE, Saba KIDANE u.a., lesen aus ihren Texten (mit Übersetzung).
Wolfgang Martin Roth informiert und reflektiert die aktuelle, alarmierende Entwicklung von Pressefreiheit und die Gefährdung von JournalistInnen in Eritrea und Europa.

Ein Abend im Rahmen des:
PRESSEFREIHEITS- MENSCHENRECHTS- KUNSTPROJEKTs zum Tag der Menschenrechte
Anlass dafür ist die alarmierende Einschränkung der Pressefreiheit und die Gefährdung von Journalistinnen und Journalisten in vielen Teilen der Welt, zunehmend auch in Europa. Demokratien müssen aktiver gegen diese Entwicklung vorgehen und das Bewusstsein aller dafür schärfen, dass Pressefreiheit ein unverzichtbares Gut für jede demokratische Gesellschaft ist. Das Projekt Freiheit für Dawit! Pressefreiheit! greift diese Thematik beispielhaft anhand des Schicksals des schwedisch-eritreischen Journalisten und Schriftstellers Dawit Isaak auf. Er ist seit 23 Jahren ohne Gerichtsverfahren und Kontakt zur Außenwelt in Eritrea inhaftiert, vermutlich in einem Container. Ein Opfer der massivsten Presseunfreiheit in einem Land, in dem Menschenrechtsverbrechen an der Tagesordnung sind.

Invited Eritrean writers in exile from European countries, such as Awet FISSEHAYE, Saba KIDANE and others, will read from their texts (with translation).
Wolfgang Martin Roth informs and reflects on the current, alarming development of press freedom and the endangerment of journalists in Eritrea and Europe.

An evening as part of the:
FREEDOM OF THE PRESS - HUMAN RIGHTS ART PROJECT on the occassion of Human Rights Day
The reason for this is the alarming restriction of press freedom and the threat to journalists in many parts of the world, increasingly also in Europe. Democracies must take more active steps to combat this development and raise awareness of the fact that freedom of the press is an indispensable asset for any democratic society. The project Freedom for Dawit! Freedom of the Press! takes up this issue using the fate of the Swedish-Eritrean journalist and writer Dawit Isaak. Dawit Isaak has been imprisoned in Eritrea for 23 years without trial or contact with the outside world, presumably in a container. A victim of the most massive lack of freedom of the press in a country where human rights crimes are the order of the day.
